Dual Enrollment/Early College

Dual Enrollment/Early College is a program that allows high school students to get a jump start on their college career. Students are afforded the opportunity to earn college credit while earning a high school diploma. Dual Enrollment provides students the ability to adjust to the college environment and course expectations before becoming a full-time college student. College credit will be awarded immediately upon successful completion of the course. (Note: If you are taking AP courses to obtain college credit, please note that students must pass an AP exam before credit will be awarded.) The Dual Enrollment/Early College Program is restricted to high schools that have a signed agreement with Wallace Community College Selma.

Eligibility requirements for Dual Enrollment/Early College include the following:

  • Must be a student in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade
  • Have a cumulative “B” average in completed high school courses
  • Have signed consent from parent, the principal, and the local superintendent of education
  • Meet the entrance requirements established by participating postsecondary

High School Accelerated

The High School Accelerated Program provides qualified high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. Students are also provided the ability to adjust to the college environment and course expectations before becoming a full-time college student. College credit is held in escrow until graduation from high school. The High School Accelerated Program is not restricted to high schools that have a signed agreement with Wallace Community College Selma.

Eligibility requirements for High School Accelerated include the following:

  • Student must have a “B” average in completed high school courses
  • Student must have certification of “B” average by principal or designee
  • Student must have completed grade 10
