Wallace Community College Selma received Continued Accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) after the addition and review of its Demopolis Campus

SELMA - Wallace Community College Selma is proud to announce that it received continued accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) after the addition of its Demopolis Campus. The decision was made by the Board of Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) during its December 3, 2023, annual meeting. The SACSCOC Board of Trustees has approved the off-campus instructional sites, namely the West Alabama Regional Training Center and the Higher Education Center in Demopolis, Alabama for offering courses and degrees from an accredited institution.

The fact that Wallace Community College has maintained its accreditation is a strong testament to its dedication to maintaining academic excellence, continuous improvement, and compliance with the highest higher education standards. The accreditation process conducted by SACSCOC is a rigorous evaluation that assesses institutions based on various criteria such as their mission statement and integrity, support and learning for the students, resources, and leadership and governance.

WCCS President Dr. James M. Mitchell expressed gratitude for the hard work and dedication of the entire Wallace Community College community. "This accreditation reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students to maintaining a high standard of education. It validates our commitment to providing quality education and fostering a supportive learning environment."

Accreditation is essential for higher education institutions as it guarantees they meet standardized quality benchmarks. Accreditation builds trust in the value of education provided by these institutions, and it also provides access to federal financial aid, grants, and other beneficial opportunities for both students and the college.

Wallace Community College is dedicated to providing accessible and affordable education that empowers students to achieve their academic and career goals while striving for excellence, innovation, and student success.
