Wallace Community College Selma Students Honored at Statewide Recognition Program, Earn Statewide Scholarships

Selma, AL—Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS) proudly celebrates students Chandler Tyler and Nolan Fairley, named to the 2025 All-Alabama Academic Team. The announcement was made during the 30th Annual All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program, hosted by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) on Friday, April 11, at the Embassy Suites in Birmingham-Hoover.

Tyler and Fairley were recognized alongside 46 other top scholars from Alabama’s community colleges. They received accolades for their academic excellence, leadership, and service. Each recipient was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Paths for Success Foundation to support their continued education at a public or private institution.

“Today’s accolades demonstrate our students' dedication and hard work, signifying the high standards of excellence upheld by the ACCS,” said Jimmy H. Baker, chancellor of the Alabama Community College System. “I am proud of the faculty and students, whose tremendous efforts make these achievements and this event possible.”

Tyler and Fairley were previously honored at WCCS’s 2025 Honors Ceremony and are active members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the national honor society for two-year colleges. Their inclusion on the All-Alabama Academic Team reflects their academic achievement and commitment to leadership and service—qualities strongly emphasized at WCCS.

This year’s statewide event marked the program's 30th anniversary, and $61,250 in scholarships were awarded. In addition to the Paths for Success awards, several students across the state also received national Coca-Cola Academic Team honors and New Century Scholarships.

WCCS President Dr. James M. Mitchell expressed his pride in this recognition: “Chandler and Nolan exemplify the best of Wallace Community College Selma. Their achievements represent their hard work, character, and excellence that WCCS strives to foster in all our students.”
