WCCS Welcomes New Campus Police Chief at Swearing-In Ceremony
Selma, AL - October 3, 2024 — Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS) held a special ceremony today to swear in the newly appointed Campus Police Chief, further reinforcing its commitment to the safety and security of its students, staff, and visitors. The event was attended by campus officials, community leaders, and law enforcement personnel from local and regional agencies, showcasing the strong partnerships between WCCS and the broader law enforcement community.
Chief Marquez James was officially sworn in during the ceremony. He will oversee campus law enforcement and ensure the continued safety of the WCCS community. Chief James, a veteran with over 22 years of experience in law enforcement, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the college and shared his vision for maintaining a secure learning environment.
Dr. James M. Mitchell, President of WCCS, welcomed Chief James to the team with enthusiastic support. “We are delighted to have someone of Chief James’s caliber lead our campus police department. His experience, leadership, and dedication will enhance the safety and well-being of everyone at WCCS,” Dr. Mitchell stated. “Chief James will be a vital part of our efforts to create a secure and supportive learning and personal growth environment.”
The WCCS Campus Police Department is critical in the college's daily operations, providing law enforcement services, crime prevention programs, and campus safety education. Adding Chief James marks an exciting new chapter in the department’s history.
