Foundation Scholarships
American Legion Scholarships
American Legion Post #20 has established state scholarships for WCCS students. To be eligible, students must be residents of Alabama. The sons, daughters, grandsons, and granddaughters of veterans of World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam will receive first priority. Applications may be obtained from the WCCS Office of Financial Aid or from The Department Adjutant, The American Legion, and P. O. Box 1069, Montgomery, AL 36192. The application deadline is April 1 each year.
"Demius K. Jackson" Memorial Scholarships
This scholarship was established by Sharon Jackson, to honor the life of Demius K. Jackson, her son.
Catherine Coleman Flowers Scholarship
To qualify, the student must be enrolled at Wallace Community College Selma, apply for Federal Financial Aid, and be a Lowndes County resident or a Central High School graduate.
Dr. James M. Mitchell Scholarship
The James M. Mitchell Scholarship was established by the Delta Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., to honor the service and dedication of Dr. James Mitchell to Wallace Community College Selma and the city of Selma, Alabama.
Mario James Mitchell Scholarship
The Mario James Mitchell Scholarship was established in 2022 by Dr. James M. Mitchell, to honor the life and legacy of Mario James Mitchell.
Edmundite Missions Scholarship
To qualify, the student must be enrolled at Wallace Community College Selma, apply for Federal Financial Aid, and be a resident of the following counties: Dallas, Wilcox, Lowndes, Perry, Monroe, or Butler.
Melson Trust Scholarship
The Melson Trust Scholarship fund was created for deserving students who wish to pursue a science or math-related career. This scholarship will cover tuition and fees for a minimum of 6 to 8 credit hours for a student studying MATH or SCIENCE-related majors.
Institutional Scholarships
Valedictorian Scholarship
Wallace Community College Selma/Demopolis offers a two-year scholarship to the Valedictorian of the high schools residing within our service area. To qualify for the scholarship, the Valedictorian must be admitted to WCCS before the scholarship can be awarded. The scholarship will begin in the fall semester following the Valedictorian's high school graduation. It covers tuition and fees for a maximum of four (4) semesters but does not cover the cost of textbooks. To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must maintain a GPA of 2.75 and enroll in 12 to 15 credit hours per semester. See the scholarship application for additional criteria and requirements. The deadline for submission is May 31st.
Presidential, Academic, Technical and Certificate Scholarships
Wallace Community College Selma/Demopolis offers two-year scholarships (Presidential, Academic, Technical, and Certificate) to first-time freshmen residing within our service area. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be admitted to WCCS before the scholarship can be awarded. The scholarship will begin in the fall semester following the applicant’s high school graduation. It covers tuition and fees for a maximum of four (4) semesters but does not cover the cost of textbooks. See the scholarship application for additional criteria and requirements. The deadline for submission is April 1st.
Presidential Scholarship
To qualify for a Presidential Scholarship that covers tuition and fees, a student must have a composite ACT score of at least 24. To renew the scholarship for a maximum of four semesters, the student must be enrolled in a maximum of 12 to 15 credit hours each semester and maintain a 3.25 GPA.
Academic Scholarship
To qualify for an Academic Scholarship that covers tuition and fees, a student must have a composite ACT score of at least 20. To renew the scholarship for a maximum of four semesters, the student must be enrolled in a maximum of 12 to 15 credit hours each semester and maintain a 2.75 GPA.
Technical Scholarship
To qualify for a Technical Scholarship that covers tuition and fees, a student must have a 2.75 or above Grade Point Average. To renew the scholarship for a maximum of four semesters, the student must be enrolled in a maximum of 12 to 15 credit hours each semester and maintain a 2.50 GPA. This scholarship covers the Drafting and Design, Electrical Technology, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Office Administration Programs.
Certificate Scholarship
To qualify for a Certificate Scholarship that covers tuition and fees, a student must have a 2.75 or above Grade Point Average. To renew the scholarship for a maximum of four semesters, the student must be enrolled in a maximum of 12 to 15 credit hours each semester and and maintain a 2.50 GPA. This scholarship covers the Cosmetology, Welding, Masonry, and Patient CARE Technician Programs.
Athletic Scholarships
Wallace Community College Selma is a member of the Alabama Junior College Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association. WCCS participates in varsity competition in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball and men’s baseball. Athletic scholarships are available for all these sports. These scholarships may cover tuition, fees, and textbooks. Athletes must maintain a 2.0 GPA as determined by the NJCAA Rules of Eligibility to remain on scholarship status. Economically Disadvantaged (Child Care) Scholarship
Senior Citizens Scholarship
This is a free tuition program for senior citizens. To qualify, a student must be at least 60 years old, accepted into either the Academic or Technical Division of the institution, and taking credit courses towards a program of study. Please note that this scholarship does not cover any applicable fees.
Technical Program Tuition Assistance (TPTA) Scholarship
To qualify, the student must be enrolled at Wallace Community College Selma/Demopolis, apply for Federal Financial Aid, and be enrolled in a converted-hour program (e.g. Welding, Cosmetology, Masonry, or (PCT) Patient Care Technician).
