Adult Education

Wallace Community College Selma Adult Education Program provides online and traditional classes in Dallas, Marengo, Sumter, Hale, Greene, Lowndes, and Perry counties. The program assist individuals in developing basic, digital, and employment skills. We offer preparation for the GED test, high school diploma, WorkKeys, and Northstar Digital Literacy tests.

How much do the classes cost?

The classes are free.

My child is 16, how does he register for your classes?

If the potential student has been in the public-school system, he or she will need a certificate of exemption, notarized letter from the parent/guardian, and proof of Alabama residency.

If the potential student was in a church, private, or home school, he or she will need a notarized letter from the parent/guardian, and proof of Alabama residency.

If the potential student has been court ordered, he or she will need to bring the court order.

How many parts does the GED test have?

There are four parts to the GED test – Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science.

How can I obtain my GED transcript?

Go to www.ged.comand click on “Grads and Transcripts”.

How long does it take to get a GED?

The length of time it takes to obtain a GED depends upon the individual.

Do you have evening or online classes?

Yes. We have an online class, and we have a Tuesday/Thursday class that meets at 4:00 p.m.

Can I take the GED test online?

Yes. The GED test can be taken in person or online.

Do I have to take the classes to sign-up for the GED test?

No. You can take the GED test without taking the class. The class increases your chances of passing the test, and we will pay for your test.
